     Some Vignettes, like the first, seem almost to be "maliciously" cancelled and the Collector is often forced to choose between "the lesser of two (or more) evils".  This one could be far worse than it is.  But don't be dismayed!  There are some very nice Elk, both great and small, coming up on the next page! 

     I was very surprised to discover that a "Four Wheel Drive Club" had been organized in Michigan as early as 1912!  Yet of course that is a wonderful place for it.

     The Dog below the Greyhound is on some Certificates for that issue of the New York & Harlem Railroad Company but not on most others that I have seen, where it has been replaced by a much less interesting and sketchy Train Logo!

     The Mythical Creature on the Jersey City Bond seems to be a cross between a Gryphon (Griffin) and a Basilisk, having the features of a Lion, an Eagle and a Serpent.  For a more traditional Gryphon click >HERE< and scroll down to the last Image.

     The last Vignette is an extremely attractive one used nearly 100 years ago by the International Nickel Company and by the Blue Ridge Company, both of which Certificates are rather scarce.
